At the Seldovia City Council meeting on February 12, 2014 Dr. Reynolds officially announced his April 30 retirement from office practice.  He also announced he does not intend to renew his medical license which expires at the end of December.

This means after April, unless a replacement is found, there will be no doctor holding regularly scheduled office hours in our clinic and after December no doctor will taking emergency calls and so-forth in Seldovia.

Isn’t it time for open and in-depth community discussion of the future of the City of Seldovia’s Clinic facilities?

Why else would this be an appropriate issue for discussion?

The answers to these questions might provide a hint: Will people feel secure for their health and that of their children with out a doctor present in the community? Will Seldovia prosper without continuation of a medical practice in the Clinic?  Will it Continue Reading

Thank You Seldovia Volunteers!

A big THANK YOU to the following 11 volunteers who showed up to help clear the Rocky Ridge Trail on Saturday, July 14th!

Happy Schneider, Kari Heinrich and Duna, Bob Moser, Tobben and Tania Spurkland, Mary Ann Driscoll, Frieda Erickson, Sachiko Scott, Jere Murray and yours truly.  It took us about 5 hours of tedious work.  But looking behind to see an open path was instant gratification!! We were two groups of happy workers when we met clearing the trail from opposite directions!  On their way down those who worked from the Airport side were able to enjoy the trail newly cleared by those of us who started from Rocky Rd.

Thanks go also to Walt Sonen who took his chainsaw and hiked the trail the day before clearing the trees and to Dean Lent who was kind enough to shuffle the workers up to the trailhead in his 4-wheeler.  It would have taken longer and we would have been more tired without your help!

The trail is now cleared from end to end and ready for everyone to hike and enjoy. If you see any of the volunteers, please give them a big thank you!  Clearing trail is never an easy task. Fun, lots of exercise and lots of work!

Thanks again for a job well done.
