SVT Health & Wellness is pleased to announce regular availability of a naturopathic doctor in Seldovia. Hillery Daily, ND is now accepting new patients in Seldovia for naturopathic medicine, as well as acupuncture. Dr. Daily believes in treating the whole person, rather than treating symptoms alone. “I became interested in naturopathic medicine from a passion for whole foods and nutrition,” she said. “I have continued to find natural/alternative medicine an effective approach for both acute and chronic illness as well as disease prevention.”
Originally from Montana, Dr. Daily practices naturopathic medicine focusing on holistic, proactive prevention and comprehensive diagnosis and treatment. “The opportunity to work with an integrated healthcare team focused on whole-patient wellness is what brought me to SVT Health & Wellness.”
Naturopathic medicine is a distinct method of primary health care. It is considered an art, science and philosophy approach to diagnosis, treatment and prevention of illness. Singing and Storytelling Event at Library This Friday

All children and families are welcome to join us at the library at 9:45 am on Friday, 7/26 for a special treat – a singing/storytelling event with a guest music teacher, Ken Greimann, from Missouri.
Senator Murkowski’s Seldovia Visit

On the 4th of July, we had the pleasure to honor Senator Lisa Murkowski as Seldovia’s Old Crab – which is a coveted position held by many influential leaders in our state, including: Senator Ted Stevens, Jay Hammond, Clem Tillion, Maria Downey among many other Alaskans who have made an impact on our state and communities.
As I was taking photos throughout the day, I appreciated the Senator’s authentic love for small communities, her friendly and very personable way with each person she met. From visiting with the crafters, calling the start of the Salmon Shuffle 5K race, speaking at the ground breaking ceremony for Seldovia Wild Seafood to visiting and posing with children preparing for the parade and speaking with elders – the Senator made herself available to all, and was gracious and genuinely interested in the activities of the day and the people of Seldovia.
It was nice to have an opportunity to meet the Senator, and take a few minutes to chat about her experience on the 4th in Seldovia as our Old Crab and her thoughts on the future of small communities like Seldovia.
Gazette: Senator Murkowski, welcome to Seldovia! We are honored to have you visit us for the 4th of July this year! I’m sure you received many invitations for the Independence Day celebrations throughout the state, what made you decide to accept our invitation to Seldovia above all others?
Senator Murkowski: Yes, I am asked to visit a lot of communities, and I do try to get out and visit the many places especially those that are off the beaten path. I received an invitation some months ago to come to Seldovia and be recognized as Seldovia’s Old Crab, and that really caught my attention! 
This was not just the standard “Come to our city, be the grand marshal of a parade.” I have a soft spot in my heart for small town 4th of July celebrations. Thanks to the fabulous direction and fish finding abilities of Captain Dave Cloninger, with Seldovia Fishing Adventures, Inc., Joe from Simi Valley reeled in this amazing 245 pound halibut! That is ONE BIG fish!
Everyone on the boat came in with their limit (as always) and smiles miles wide!

Silly superpowers! Get your drawing arms ready. - Comic Book Jam Session from 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. – 8 and up (smaller can attend with adult helpers)
Have you heard of a music jam session, where musicians meet up and create new music by improvising? Discover how to do the same with comics! You’ve created your character in the earlier workshop, now learn some comics tips, begin a comics story for it, and then lose control as your character sets off on its own adventure! A fun game you can take away to play again.
