Sorry for the super delayed photo story about the fabulous Chainsaw Exhibition 2012!

This Memorial Day chainsaw competition was a little different from the previous years.  Due to a myriad of scheduling conflicts (a move out-of-state, opening a new gallery, moving a shop/workshop across town, building a home, etc.) many carvers weren’t able to make it to our event this year.

We were thankful that three great carvers joined us this summer, Ben & Silas Firth (2nd year), Jimmy Kitchens & Carisa Curtis (5th year) and Rob Younkins & Deveyn LaCroix (3rd year)!

Alexandria Seversen Roehl Paisley – August 10, 1922 – June 18, 2012

Alexandria Seversen Roehl Paisley, 89, passed away on June 18, 2012 at the Alaska Native Medical Center.

Alexandria was born on August 10, 1922, in Nondalton, Alaska.  She lived in Iliamna, Homer, retired to Seldovia and lived in Anchorage since 1999.

Alexandria received an Associates Degree in Office Occupations. Alexandria worked for the Seversen Roadhouse, commercial fished in Cook Inlet, Peterson Point Cannery and the Alaska Native Health Services (ANS).   She retired from ANS in the early eighties.

Alexandria was a member of Faith Christian Community Church.  She was recognized as a volunteer by the Volunteers of America for donating hand-made Continue Reading

7:00 am          Registration for Salmon Shuffle at harbormaster’s building
7:00 am          Library Book Sale! 7am-2pm in the multipurpose building parking
lot at the library entrance (or just inside in case of rain).
7:00am           Pancake Breakfast in the multi-purpose room; serving til 11:00
9:00 am          Salmon Shuffle 5 k Run begins at the harbor
10:00am         Arts and Craft Fair opens
10:30am         Parade lines up at the gas station
10:30am         Food Booths open across from the Visitor Center & Fire Hall
11:00am         Fourth of July Parade begins on Main Street
11:00am         Grandstand; Flag Raising, Parade Prizes, Outstanding Youth,
Citizen and Organization of the Year, plus the Old Crab award and
auction and Dr Larry Appreciation Day
12:30pm        Kids’ Games:  Sawdust Pile Money Hunt, Play area for toddlers,
Booth games; Win prizes
1:00pm           Hula Hoop Contest in front of the Boardwalk Hotel
1:30pm           Sourdough Games, for Big Kids and Adults on Main Street
2:00pm          Rubber Duckie Race  View from the launching ramp
3:00pm          Log Rolling and Canoe Jousting at the launching ramp
