| March 5, 2012 | 0 Comments

by Jenny Chissus

Our City Manager is on the road this week, traveling with Team Alaska. Having directed the 2006 Arctic Winter Games (which has been widely considered one of the most successful games during it’s 30 year history) and with over 25 years of experience in international, professional and college sports, our very own, Mr. Tim Dillon is one of the 9 member board representing the state – Team Alaska – for the Arctic Winter Games.

This Board is responsible for the team and setting the policies for the Arctic Winter Games. As Tim is our City Manager, many folks like to know what he’s up to and how he’s making a great impact for our state and community!

We are proud of Tim, who continues to be out there in a national way, meeting with folks from Juneau and around the state and nation – representing Seldovia!  Enjoy this article about the Arctic Winter Games from the Juneau Empire!

I’m always keeping an eye out for news about Seldovia, and this blog has fabulous photos of our beautiful environs!  I have to say that not all the commentary is correct, but it is this individual’s impression of Seldovia – and certainly worth sharing!  Enjoy these great photos as Adam Elliott did an amazing job of sharing the unique Alaskan beauty of the nature, architecture and art of Seldovia.  Seldovia is absolutely gorgeous!  We are so fortunate to live here!  Thank you Adam for these wonderful photos!

On Saturday at 12:50pm I received a call from our City Manager that we were going to have an emergency meeting regarding the 50 foot setback ordinance – as Assemblymen Bill Smith and Mako Haggerty were arriving at the airport at 1:15pm, Saturday the 25th of February, 2012.  Only 25 minutes notice!

There were quite a few folks who made it a priority  to get together on such short notice to speak with the assemblymen regarding this issue.  We had Jere Murray – Parks & Rec and concerned citizen, Paulie Carluccio – P&Z Commissioner for Seldovia and borough Planning representative, Gerry Patrick- council member , Vivian Rojas – council member, Walter McInnes – council member, Tim Dillon – city manager, Dean Lent, – council member, John Colberg – council member,  Robert Purpura – council member, Mako Haggarty – KPB Assembly, Bill Smith – KPB Assembly, Steve Stanish – representing Dillon & Dillon Construction, Jim Hopkins – Hopkins Brothers Construction, and  Jenny Chissus – Realtor, Seldovia Gazette Editor and concerned citizen. Planning a trip out of Seldovia isn’t always an easy endeavor.  Today, since we are taking the ferry out at the expected 5:45pm departure time, I was on the phone with the Homer office to verify the schedule.  Rumor had it that the ferry was Continue Reading
